Everyone, meet Elly

The skies are red. Not an end-of-the-world red, but sunset red; the kind that would look good in the final scene of an adventure/romance movie that combines heartfelt dialogue with explosive car chases.
The color would have normally made Elly anxious. But, not tonight. He felt safe stranded at the train station-a few miles east from the office and a good twelve hours away from the start of yet another routine.
Considering the day that had just passed, red skies and chilly weather was a little victory in itself.
He wore his usual uniform of jeans and a sweater-practically the same type of outfit he wore everyday. And as he waited for the train, he didn't realize that all his efforts at blending in were working so well, that none of the regulars (well, at least he assumed they were regulars), hardly noticed him at all.
He wasn't familiar with this station, but he rode the train everyday. First west, then east-it took him over 120 miles round trip-and everyday he saw the faces that made up the normalcy of his life. But, tonight was unique. He took a different route home-actually turned from his this heels and hopped on an unfamiliar bus in an effort to catch the train he was late for.
Which put him here-at this strange station, under a semi-stormy-early evening kind of red sky, a few miles east of the office.
The train was pulling out just when the bus was pulling in. He'll be home later than usual tonight.
